Kevin Heckart lives on, and makes work for the Internet. His 127.0.0.1 is located in Kansas City, Missouri. Most well known for being the creator of the visual aesthetic of "seapunk". Heckart is a self taught Internet artist thus his body of work is fluid, moving between mediums of immersive 3D rendered art to simple .gifs. Visually the works adopt the style of 90's computer gaming while simultaneously appropriating fragments of internet culture. There is a distinct surrealism that occurs between this mashup allows the viewer to be put in a minimalistic fantasy world. This flexible fantasy can be explored by the viewer online, but remains on the screen, leaving the audience to abruptly recognize the synthetic nature of the body of work as a whole.
